Luxury velvet cushions

Isn’t nature incredible?

We are so fortunate to live on Victoria’s beautiful Bellarine Peninsula. Appreciating the world around us with walks, bike rides, snorkelling adventures – all without the need for travel or accommodation!

Gratitude for this privilege has flowed through to my studio. I have taken a beautiful image of a locally endangered Hooded Plover, captured by local photographer/author and customer Carole Poustie and interpreted it via a digital watercolour painting.

This digital painting has been processed locally by NextState Print in Melbourne into a luxurious blue velvet. I’ve handcrafted some complementary silk piping and used these pieces to create couture, luxury cushions.

Ensuring the survival of these beautiful feathered friends is so important to me. I’m donating 10% of the sale price of my “Conservation Series – Hooded Plovers” to BirdLife Australia towards their conservation works.

Available online now as a limited series of handcrafted pieces. A true talking point for your home or office or a very special gift for your over one.

Sustainable Textiles

Sustainable scraps – no fabrics wasted here at Bellarine Bee Wraps – with the help of my beautiful Grace Q’Nique 15R Longarm quilting machine.

Sustainability is at the very core of what I do here at Bellarine Bee Wraps HQ. I’m busily upcycling the many off cuts that I’ve saved over my years of creating beeswax wraps into unique, one-of-a-kind scrappy Market Tote Bags, iPad covers, Book covers and cushions.

Recently I’ve been designing and printing my fabric locally in Melbourne through Next State Print. I’m so pleased to be able to feature photographic images of locally endangered species on my handcrafted beeswax wraps. Naturally I don’t want to waste any of this gorgeous fabric, so where there is an incomplete or smaller repeat of my image that fabric is saved for these textile projects. They are combining well with the pile of fabric off cuts that I have saved over the years.

I love to create couture, heirloom quilts. However, the pieces that I’m designing from these off cuts are being used to produce higher utility products – especially the scrappy market tote bags. These bags are sturdy, large enough for all of your market purchases, insulated by the quilting and feature comfortable quilted shoulder straps. I’ve also added an exterior pocket for ease of locating your phone and keys!! They can be machine washed if they get grubby from your fresh produce.

Keep an eye on my shop for regular product releases. I’m always happy to create custom items for you as well – drop me an email from the Contact page.

Stay warm, Kassandra x

The Eagle has landed..

The Eagle 🦅 has landed – except it’s a Hooded Plover 😂

My range of custom, locally & sustainably printed fabric has arrived from @nextstateprint. The designs feature stunning images of the Hooded Plover as captured by talented local photographer and customer @carolepoustie .

They will be transformed into hand-dipped beeswax wraps using premium beeswax from @becks_honey .

I’m so pleased to “close the loop” and collaborate to make this product a full celebration of our local environment, apiarists, photographers/conservationists, ethical & sustainable printers.

As well as the reusability of the product contributing to our sustainability practices, I will be donating from the sale of each wrap towards the conservation of this cute little feathered friend. Market-free long weekend

This weekend I’ll be taking some time to celebrate the arrival of Autumn, my precious family (and my 45th birthday.)

There will be many markets around Geelong and the Bellarine for you to enjoy. I would normally attend the Point Lonsdale Primary School Market on Sunday. Another market will be at the Bellarine Agricultural Show. I’m sure many of you also have plans to travel, to camp, to enjoy a change of pace.

My online store is always open and I’ll be posting/delivering orders as normal. I do free local pick ups and deliveries. Postage on orders over $100 is also free. Other postage charges are most reasonable.

If you have a Thank You card now is a great time to use your discount code – remember to enter it at checkout.

Otherwise I look forward to seeing you at Torquay Cowrie Market on Sunday 19th March of the Queenscliffe Community Market on Sunday 26th March.

Enjoy your long weekend!

X Kassandra
